Table Saw Forum. Have you seen this new table saw called a saw stop it has a cartridge in it that some how senses when a soft object like a finger is against the blade and instantly retracts it away and down. The table saw i have my eye on seems to do the job of a miter saw as well as being able to cut larger pieces of wood (for future projects). I had my 10 table saw for 25 years before getting my 14 bandsaw, and only then because i wanted to do some resawing.
I've never rebuilt an old tablesaw, but seriously considered one.
Submitted 5 years ago by kivalo. I got mine used several years ago, belt drive. I have a kobalt 10 contractor table saw that isn't the best in the world, but it works and is what i have to work with. The table saw makes more sawdust, is more dangerous takes up more space and i can't use in may basement shop for all the above reasons. And being a novice, the table saw seems more dangerous and intimidating. You can build almost anything with the first four items with access to lumber with finished faces.
